Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Project Architect II to join our Cary, NC office!

This Project Architect II will be responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned major project, including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions that best meet the client’s needs. Provides professional architectural consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large, complex projects. Independently applies advanced architectural concepts and designs. Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures. May provide technical guidance to less experienced architects/ architectural staff.


Responsibilities

  • Performs technical and feasibility studies, including analyzing and interpreting historical data, surveys, reports, and as-builts to create innovative architectural design projects.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of applicable industry, accessibility, and building and design codes and standards, and interprets and applies these throughout the design and construction process.
  • Reviews designs, tests, and assesses materials and performs/reviews calculations.
  • Plans and coordinates required permitting and approvals documentation which supports their designs.
  • Develops the Front-End documents for the project specifications.
  • Conducts site surveys to obtain existing conditions, develop existing conditions drawings, and identify code, ADA, and Life Safety deficiencies in existing construction. Evaluates existing construction for deficiencies in materials and assemblies that may impact future work.
  • Adheres to corporate quality control standards within the discipline and checks own work produce for accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinates with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.
  • Oversees construction administration including conducting construction meetings, responding to contractor RFIs (Request for Information), developing ASIs (Architect’s Supplemental Instructions), reviewing payment applications and construction close-out activities.
  • Conduct site inspections throughout construction, documenting site conditions and construction activities, coordinates with Agency Owner and contractor staff, and correctly identifies design and construction risks.
  • Manages a small team of design staff when requested or assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by a Project Manager or senior team members.

Qualifications

  • A professional degree in architecture from an accredited institution, a licensed architect, plus at least six years of related experience.
  • 6 or more years’ experience.
  • Licensed architectural staff.
  • Highly proficient in REVIT, AutoCad Architecture version 2022, have the ability to annotate plans and details.
  • Working knowledge of Word & Excel, Outlook and Procore (if used by the Contractor).
  • May also have 3D Rendering Software capabilities.
  • Maintains existing architectural licensure through completion of LUs as required.
  • Actively seeking LEED accreditation and obtain membership/ participation in industry-focused events.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
