About this role

Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Project Manager to join the Environmental Services Team in Texas to work from either our Houston, San Antonio office! The Project Manager will perform duties in support of the direction and vision of the overall discipline. Oversee, direct, and manage the work effort of assigned staff.

 

Our Environmental Services Team provides expertise for all stages of the land development, energy, and transportation projects from initial due diligence services, ecological services, cultural resource services, agency permitting and coordination, and post construction compliance. Our professionals have the technical expertise, knowledge, background and relationships to work effectively with the appropriate governing bodies and regulatory agencies concerning these important issues.

 

As an Environmental Services Project Manager, you should have knowledge on some, or all, of the following types of work: Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Geologic Assessments, Wetlands and Surface Water Body Delineations, Threatened and Endangered Species Assessments, and/or permitting experience with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Texas Department of Transportation, or Texas Rail Road Commission.


Responsibilities

  • Review and manage operations to ensure the quality of the technical products.
  • Establish effective long-range objectives, goals, and plans for an assigned team.
  • Provide technical and management leadership to the assigned team.
  • Advise and assists professionals in other groups when expert knowledge and expertise is required.
  • Manage activities so an adequate profit is earned on all projects.
  • Review monthly productivity and labor hour utilization-rates and reports and make adjustments as needed.
  • Assigns projects to staff and schedules work.
  • Evaluate employee performance in accordance with company policy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Ecology, Botany, Biology, Zoology, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related area.
  • 5+ years of experience in related field. 3+ years of experience with preparing proposals, developing budgets, tracking budgets and the associated financial management skills necessary to run a team and monitor the performance of the business.

Additionally, the successful candidate should possess the following certifications, skills, abilities, and competencies:

  • Technical Knowledge/Expertise- Continually learn and apply applicable standards, procedures, trends, technology, and criteria to successfully perform the functional responsibilities of the position.
  • Relationship Management- Possess and demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain internal and external relationships which support the success of the Company.
  • Business Acumen- Knowledgeable in best practices, trends, information, and other influences that affect CED and the environment in which we work, to maintain our position as an industry leader.
  • Communication- Possess and demonstrate the ability, skills, and initiative to exchange information effectively and efficiently.
  • Program and Project Management- Possess and demonstrate the ability to lead effectively and efficiently, plan, organize and manage procedures, protocols and/or staff to achieve the desired results of specific projects and/or programs.
  • Professional License in related field preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License preferred.
  • Related discipline and safety training/ certifications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work well with and communicate with others.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects at one time, meeting profit and revenue goals.
  • Approachable and able to effectively manage staff.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
