About the role

As a Software Engineer – Healthcare Solutions, you will make an impact by designing and delivering end‑to‑end technical solutions that support key healthcare operations. You will be a valued member of our Healthcare Technology team, partnering closely with architects, QA, and cross‑functional stakeholders to implement high‑quality software using modern engineering practices. This role combines solution design, development, testing, and production support in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

In this role, you will:

• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into complete end‑to‑end solution designs.
• Develop and implement solutions using C#, .NET Core, SSIS, MS SQL, and Python.
• Perform unit testing using XUnit and ensure all deliverables follow established coding standards.
• Conduct peer and architect code reviews to maintain consistency, quality, and alignment with best practices.
• Support QA, UAT, and production deployments, including troubleshooting and issue resolution.
• Communicate project and technical status clearly to stakeholders and team members.
• Collaborate with teams and stakeholders to build prototypes and define solution approaches.
• Ensure all work aligns with solution design expectations and contributes to high‑quality, scalable outcomes.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2–3 days per week in a Cognizant office in Mesa, AZ. What you need to have to be considered:

• Hands‑on experience with .NET Core, C#, SSIS, MS SQL, Python, APIs, and modern engineering practices.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Strong understanding of unit testing, version control, and code quality standards.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
• Interest in working within an onshore–offshore delivery model.

These will help you stand out:

• Experience in the healthcare domain, especially Encounter Data Management (EDM) or claims processing.
• Knowledge of Facets or QNXT and backend payer data structures.
• Experience with EDI, encounter/claim workflows, and healthcare business processes.
• Additional skills with SSRS, VBScript, or other healthcare data tools.
• Ability to clearly explain technical processes, logic, and decisions in a concise and structured manner.

The annual salary for this position will depend on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
