ACTIVE LIVING MANAGER
Responsible to: GENERAL MANAGER
Salary: $50,000-$54,000
Job Summary:
As an employee of Regency Retirement Resorts, you are a member of a highly energetic team, working collaboratively to implement a range of activities and social gatherings to enhance and enrich the lives of our Residents on a daily basis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Sets and maintains an example of conduct, personal grooming and appearance that will set a standard for all staff to emulate.
Create and develop activities and social programs encompassing the varied physical, cognitive and emotional levels, as well as social and ethnic background of the residents.
Develop and implement activities and social programs, which involve interaction between the residents and members of the surrounding community through liaison with resource agencies, families and friends of residents.
Assist the General Manager in ensuring the Activity Department is staffed with appropriately placed personnel. Works with the General Manager in the selection, appraisal, coaching and discipline of employees.
Supervises designated staff in all aspects of service by performing duties such as coordinating work assignments, scheduling staff, evaluating employee performance and determining related training and orientation requirements.
Participates in Management Team meetings as required.
Participates in special events and caters to external groups as part of the marketing teams program, showcasing the level of service that could be expected as a Resident.
Create a positive, friendly atmosphere and motivates Residents in a positive way to participate in the activities of their choice.
Communicate with other departments in order to coordinate all programs planned and in order to encourage participation of the whole “team” in providing a recreational program for the Residents.
Decorates common areas in keeping with special events and changing seasons.
Produces newsletter, monthly calendar and daily event sheets keeping Residents informed of monthly and daily planned activities.
Organizes and participates in Resident meetings.
Supervises any operations involving service providers (i.e. hair salon) and acts as liaison to General Manger. Ensures continuity of coverage to meet resident needs.
Supervises the operation of the bus service and schedule of drivers.
Organizes the routine maintenance of the bus.
Drives the bus during planned Resident outings when needed.
Host tours and show suites available for rent to prospective clients as necessary.
Develops, implements, controls and evaluates departmental goals, objectives, policies and procedures, and ensures that the required standards are maintained.
Develops the departmental budget in conjunction with the General Manager. Maintains monthly and yearly budget controls.
Develops, implements, and evaluates documentation and reporting systems to maintain records and communication for the department.
Maintains confidentiality of all resident and organizational information and displays an attitude that shows respect and maintains the spirit, dignity and individuality of the residents. Communicates any information to the General Manager or Administrative Assistant that may assist in maintaining the Resident’s health, safety and happiness.
Familiarizes and adheres to all organizational policies and procedures.
Assists in the orientation process of new employees.
Performs other related duties and multi-tasking functions as assigned.
Qualifications:
Two years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience in the hospitality industry related to the area of seniors living. Serving it Right Food Safe Class 4 driver’s license. WHMIS
Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Mentally and physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. Able to plan, organize and direct people and functions. Must be tactful, friendly and extremely patient when dealing with residents. Must be courteous and friendly to visitors and work in a cooperative manner with fellow workers. Proficiency in MS Office and Publisher.
