About this role

As a Hardware Supervisor with Tofino Co-op, you will support the Hardware Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring excellent customer service, safe work practices, and efficient operations. This role involves coaching, training, and leading team members while fostering a positive, customer-focused environment.

 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in organizing, directing, and coordinating daily department tasks
  • Support inventory management, ordering, and staff scheduling
  • Supervise, train, coach, and resolve conflicts among Hardware team members
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of orders
  • Maintain well-stocked shelves and a clean, organized department
  • Ensure all safety guidelines are followed, including proper PPE use, condition and availability
  • Process invoices and maintain accurate receiving documentation
  • Provide excellent customer service and resolve concerns in a courteous and efficient manner
  • Lead and inspire team members to achieve operational and service excellence
  • Deliver the brand promise and guest experience, ensuring the feeling of “You’re at home here”
  • Work collaboratively with the Hardware Manager, retail advisors and team members to execute programs and initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Secondary school diploma preferred
  • Previous experience in construction or a similar field is considered an asset
  • Minimum two years supervisory experience preferred, ideally in Hardware or other retail 
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
  • Basic computer and inventory system knowledge an asset

Working Conditions:

  • Flexible - must be willing to work a variety of hours, including weekends and holidays based on the needs of the business 

Physical Requirements:

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift for up to 8 hours
  • Physically demanding; frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
  • Occasional ascending or descending stairs
