CMS is looking to grow its Trade Mark team, with opportunities for those new to the profession and passionate about IP, as well as for those with some experience in a similar role.
We are looking to recruit a paralegal into our Legal Services Unit in Sheffield or Manchester.
The role will be focused on assisting with managing our Trade Mark team’s busy trade mark practice. If you have the skills and drive to help us develop our successful practice, we want to hear from you. Please submit a CV and accompanying cover letter setting out your reasons for applying for the role.
About the role
CMS has the largest trade mark team in the UK comprising 7 partners and 40 associates, with over 20 years' experience of managing trade mark portfolios based across our offices in London, Sheffield and Glasgow. Our trade mark team offers the breadth and depth of expertise of a boutique firm with the size, coverage and commercial approach that comes from being set within the sixth largest law firm globally. CMS's IP team is ranked Gold by the World Trademark Review.
Our full service IP practice is staffed by solicitors, barristers, patent attorneys and trade mark attorneys, all of whom work alongside specialist practice managers and dedicated paralegals and billing staff.
The team has a breadth of expertise and an international outlook, with a track record in high-value brand protection, development and management work. We advise clients across a range of sectors, including consumer products, technology, financial services, media, real estate and retail.
About you
We are looking for a new paralegal to continue our growth and help us to service our burgeoning client roster. Candidates should be motivated, enthusiastic, interested in developing their knowledge of IP law and trade mark prosecution, and committed to furthering their career as a trade mark specialist.
You will be working with our Chartered Trade Mark Attorneys and specialist trade mark solicitors to support high-end clients who regularly ask us to push the boundaries of trade mark law, making for an exciting and challenging working environment. Paralegals are integral to our team, have direct client contact, and the right candidates have opportunities to develop a career within the IP team. You will need to juggle a busy workload, competing client and team demands, and multiple deadlines, so excellent organisational skills are crucial.
The ideal candidate will want to learn about IP, and may already have experience of trade mark law through university studies or work experience. Candidates who are new to the profession will have a demonstrable passion for brands and IP in general. A degree is preferred, in either law or another discipline.
The role is based in our Sheffield or Manchester office.
