We are recruiting for a Paralegal to work within the team of Technology, Media, Intellectual Property and Competition (TMIC) in Hong Kong.
About the Role
We have an opportunity for an experienced Paralegal to join our IP team. You will have proven strong Paralegal experience, preferably working within an international law firm providing support from Associate to Partner level and have strong organisational skills. You will be confident in meeting the frequent demands of a fast-paced role with the understanding that strong communication with those you will be supporting is fundamental.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Prepare and file applications for trademark, patent and design in Hong Kong and elsewhere
• Process and prepare reply on own initiative on correspondence and legal documents for documents and foreign counsel with strict attention to deadlines and details
• Review written opinion/office action from various IP offices, prepare report to clients
• Assist with prosecution of trademark, prepare specifications of goods and services, assist with preparation of statutory declaration, opposition, revocation/cancellation, invalidation and hearings
• Assist with prosecution of patent applications
• Assist with prosecution of design applications
• Assist with copyright registrations
• Monitor deadlines and sending periodical reminders
• Conduct online searches for trademark, patent and design on various databases
• Conduct company searches
• Handle general trademark, patent and design queries and costs estimates in various jurisdictions
• Attend renewal fee payment for trademark, patent and design matters in various jurisdictions
• Manage IPR portfolio
• Assist with domain name dispute resolution
About You
The successful candidate should be a graduate with a basic degree and have a good track record of working as an IP paralegal with some patent filing experience in Hong Kong. You should be proficient in English, Cantonese and Mandarin (both oral and written) and be able to work well with others. Given the nature of the paralegal role, the candidate should have strong attention to detail, avoid making any errors and have strong organisational skills. This role would suit a candidate interested in working with a growing team and handling international work.
