About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team supporting a truly market-leading practice. Our UK real estate team, with more than 90 partners and 300 lawyers, is the largest in any law firm, and is part of the largest Real Estate team in Europe. The practice includes teams working on real estate transactions, real estate disputes, and planning, and works closely together with our Funds & Indirect Real Assets team. Our Real Estate team has 21 Band/Tier 1 rankings in Chambers and Legal 500 directories across the UK and Europe.  The location can be Sheffield, Manchester or London.

Key responsibilities:

  • Pitching – To support the production of pitches and capability statements, by maintaining standard pitch content and credentials lists and by preparing first draft pitches. To monitor the outcome of pitches and record results on the firm’s pitch database.
  • Marketing – Working with the BD managers and Design on brochures and other marketing collateral, gathering information and proof reading materials.
  • Communications – Updating social media pages including Twitter and LinkedIn as well as supporting microsite and website updates for sectors and hot topics
  • Directory and award submissions – To support the timely production of directory and awards submissions.
  • Events – To help with the execution of CMS events in the UK and elsewhere, including maintaining a calendar of events, managing the invitation process, production of delegate badges and other event collateral.
  • Key account management – Updating client management information reports and managing supporting processes e.g. contact cards, client hospitality, value added services reports and preparation for client relationship meetings.
  • Contacts database – Updating client records using our CRM system Centric, including adding and updating contacts, managing marketing lists and helping with targeting and BD projects by running relevant reports.
  • To develop and maintain effective working relations with colleagues in the global business development, marketing and communications team.
  • To support other initiatives and activities as requested by the Head of Practice Group and Sector Marketing from time to time.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have some previous Marketing & BD experience within a professional services environment and will possess strong written and numerical skills, with the ability to present complex information and concepts in a clear and concise manner. Grasping, retaining and analysing complex information and concepts. A proactive can-do approach with a drive to support the growth of our business.

Key requirements:

  • Technical Competence
    • Has experience in all aspects of Business Development and Marketing, including pitching, practice group and sector marketing, client targeting and campaigns.
    • Possesses excellent oral and written communications skills.
    • Demonstrates an understanding of the IT packages/ systems necessary to perform the role.
    • Has a demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with partners and staff at all levels within the firm and with external vendors.

  • Analytical skills
    • Grasps, retains and analyses complex information and concepts; pays good attention to detail.
    • Has the ability to present complex information and concepts in a clear and concise manner.
    • Possesses strong numerical skills.

  • Communication style and approach
    • Demonstrates excellent listening skills and checks for understanding wherever necessary.
    • Responds to professional environment, presenting consistently professional verbal and non-verbal behaviour with clients and colleagues.

  • Management
    • Demonstrates ability to plan and organise time; works to given timeframes and balances work well to meet goals and objectives.
    • Identifies issues, risks and conflicts and asks for assistance and/or delegates appropriately when required in a timely and constructive manner.
    • Adheres to, and seeks to improve established processes and procedures, where appropriate.
