Why This Job

The Director of Technology is responsible for applying geotechnical engineering experience and expertise to lead technology development of ground improvement technologies and geotechnical solutions, lead our innovation and research and development program, and to develop and implement advanced engineering approaches across Geopier’s geotechnical design and construction solutions.
This role serves as a member of the Geopier Leadership Team and will work collaboratively with the Leadership Team to define and lead growth strategies and continuous improvement initiatives for the business. The key goal for this role is to drive and maintain Geopier’s leadership position in ground improvement technologies and geotechnical solutions, and to create the future of ground improvement and geotechnical solutions.

What You'll Do

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for Geopier’s geotechnical technologies, methodologies, and design practices
  • Serve as a technical expert and thought leader in geotechnical engineering and ground improvement systems
  • Lead the development, validation, and implementation of new and existing geotechnical technologies and construction methods
  • Ensure technical consistency, quality, and compliance across projects, designs, and field execution
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Commercial teams to support project delivery, complex proposals, and client solutions
  • Support research, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance, constructability, and cost efficiency
  • Mentor and develop engineering and technical teams, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and technical excellence
  • Represent Geopier in technical forums, client engagements, industry organizations, and professional associations and exhibiting strong presentation skills
  • Stay current on industry trends, codes, standards, and emerging technologies relevant to geotechnical engineering and construction
  • Active in industry associations
  • Strong vision for future of geotechnical engineering and geostructural construction

What You'll Need

  • 10+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering and/or geotechnical construction
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role, managing technical teams or engineering functions
  • Strong technical background in ground improvement systems, foundation engineering, and geotechnical design
  • Proven ability to translate technical expertise into practical, constructible solutions
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating across engineering, operations, and commercial teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to become a trusted business advisor with key decision-makers
  • Demonstrated ability to develop opportunities and specifications for a value-added product and system
  • Ability to navigate in a matrixed-organization
  • Must be highly organized with an ability to prioritize, multi-task, and manage a large workload while maintaining a focus on details and a sense of urgency to meet deadlines
  • Ability to blend strong engineering & technical skills with practical business intuition
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time around customer/client engagement and administrative tasks
  • Experience with digital tools and technologies for civil and geotechnical engineering applications
  • Experience with experimental work for civil and geotechnical engineering
  • Potential travel of 30-50%

Your Education

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field required. Area of study preference and/or requirements: Advanced Geotechnics Expertise, Geotechnical Expertise, Numerical Modelling Expertise
  • PhD strongly preferred
  • PE (Professional Engineer) License is a plus
