Cloudera Data Engineering is the next generation cloud-native service that helps our customers run large-scale data engineering workflows made up of industry standard big data processing frameworks like Apache Spark and Apache Airflow with just a few clicks, across both on-premises and public-cloud environments.

Cloudera is looking for an exceptional and passionate Software Engineer to join our CDP Data Engineering team. CDP Data Engineering team is the only cloud-native service purpose-built for enterprise data engineering teams. Building on Apache Spark, CDP Data Engineering is an all-inclusive data engineering toolset that enables orchestration automation with Apache Airflow, advanced pipeline monitoring, visual troubleshooting, and comprehensive management tools to streamline ETL processes across enterprise analytics teams.

As a Software Engineer-II you will.

• Architect & Scale: Design, develop and maintain a high-performance Data Engineering platform using Big Data staples like Apache Spark and Hadoop.

• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with UI/UX designers, platform engineers, and Product Management to build seamless end-to-end user experiences.

• Drive Excellence: Engage with Field Engineering and external partners to ensure our platform meets the evolving needs of global enterprise analytics teams.

• Build & Enhance Core Features

• Design, develop, test, and maintain features within the Data Engineering platform, contributing to components built on Apache Spark and related technologies.

• Solve Technical Problems
  Work on moderately complex technical issues, applying sound engineering judgment, creativity, and problem-solving skills under guidance from senior engineers.

• Learn Platform Architecture
  Develop a solid understanding of the system architecture, key component interfaces, and underlying platforms that power Cloudera Data Engineering.

• Quality & Reliability
  Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code with a strong focus on correctness, performance, and reliability.

• Customer Awareness
  Gain exposure to real-world customer use cases by occasionally interacting with internal teams or customers to better understand product requirements.

We’re Excited About You If You Have:

• Experience of 3+ years of experience as a software engineer building backend, platform, or infrastructure systems.

• Programming Fundamentals
  Strong foundations in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented or systems programming.

• Language Proficiency
  Experience with at least one of: Java, Scala, Go (Golang), Python, or C++.

• Distributed Systems Exposure
  Familiarity with Apache Spark, big data frameworks, or distributed systems concepts (hands-on experience is a plus but not mandatory).

• Cloud & Containers
  Basic experience or strong interest in working with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Collaboration & Communication
  Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Education
  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

You May Also Have:

• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows

• Experience contributing to open-source projects

• Interest in using AI-assisted tools to improve development productivity
