Cleveland Clinic Akron General’s new Level II Progressive Care Unit (PCU), provides personalized, high-quality care with a 1:3 RN to patient ratio. This unit cares for patients with a wide range of conditions, including those requiring non-invasive BiPAP, continuous pulse oximetry, insulin infusions, select cardiac or vasoactive drips, chronic tracheostomy ventilation, acute stroke care, spinal drains, transvenous pacemakers, and arterial monitoring. As a Health Unit Clerk in the PCU, you will provide a high level of customer service to patients, families, visitors and employees to promote and support the highest level of patient experience 

A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. including every other weekend rotation and 3 holidays per year requirements. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:   

  • Perform administrative and clerical duties.  
  • Conduct an in-person greeting and welcome newly admitted and transferred patients to the unit.  
  • Communicate with and facilitate communication between patients, families, other departments and healthcare team members regarding patient care.  
  • Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.  
  • Provide concierge service to assist patients and families with wayfinding and directing them to available resources.  
  • Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.  
  • Troubleshoot equipment.  
  • Respond to patient call lights.  
  • Keep nursing stations clean and organized.  
  • Complete mandatory education and training. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • One year of experience in a customer service-related role 
  • Prior job experience with typing or computer training or equivalent coursework 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

  • Microsoft Office experience
