Job Summary:

Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments, prepares items for shipment, and maintains inventory location accuracy in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Manages the activities required for the receipt, storage, disbursement, and shipment of raw material, WIP and finished goods inventories to ensure that both internal (production) and external (customer order) requirements are realized.  Maintains required service labels, assures inventory accuracy, and provides operational support while adhering to standard operating procedures and manufacturing practices.  Adheres to all plant, DOT, and OSHA safety policies and regulations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises and trains shipping and warehouse personnel.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Unloads trucks with incoming material/ products/ components and processes receipts according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Reviews customer shipment schedule daily for requirements.
  • Ensures all product is properly identified and stored in a safe and effective manner.
  • Assists warehouse personnel as needed. 
  • Compares identifying information and counts, weights, or measures items of incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, or other records.
  • Identifies problems with incoming receipts, including early ship quantity variances, in-transit shipping damage, part number discrepancies, etc.
  • Prepares customer orders for shipment:  Stages the required shipment, quantity; Verifies part/lot numbers:   Shrink-wraps palletized loads; Affixes shipping labels, Marks shipping information on carton/pallets/skids.
  • Loads trucks with outgoing freight and processes shipments and inventory transfers according to customer requirements and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Understands Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and DOT requirements for proper shipping, handling, and disposal of any hazardous chemicals.
  • Provides timely and accurate data entry for all inventory transaction performed, as appropriate.
  • Operates all warehouse and shipping/receiving equipment as necessary.
  • Observes all health and safety requirements and maintains work area in neat, safe and orderly fashion.
  • Selects storage space for raw material, WIP, and finished goods inventory.
  • Maintains product integrity within a specific location for storage and/ or movements. Methods may include cycle counting, auditing, or inventory adjustments.
  • Identifies and locates items.  When necessary, prepares items for handling by shrink wrapping or otherwise securing items to pallet or container.
  • Moves material and items from receiving or production staging areas to warehouse storage location or to designated areas and verifies accuracy of material counts.
  • Provides an adequate supply of raw material, WIP and packaging to the molding and assembly areas to support production schedule in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Utilizes requisition forms and move sheets to maintain records of quantities delivered to production and/ or received into the warehouse.
  • Adheres to all safety requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems 
  • Good knowledge of inventory practices such as FIFO
  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Good decision-making abilities and leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to efficiently network and coordinate processes
  • Understanding of production flow principles and manufacturing processes
  • Highly motivated & energetic with a strong work ethic
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work load and meet multiple deadlines
  • Driven by continuous process improvement.
  • Strong math skills.
  • The ability to lead, mentor, and train in a team environment.
  • Ability to make judgements and decisions based on company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, hoist, and pallet jack.
  • English language proficiency to include verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 2 year minimum of warehouse or shipping experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand entire shift (8+ hrs.). 
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Requires manual dexterity.
  • Moderate physical demand involving lifting and moving of materials and equipment.  
  • Frequently moves from waist level to floor level.
