Job Summary:

The Retrofit Technician is responsible for the removal and replacement of potable water meters, reclaimed water meters, and dual check devices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•Perform the removal, installation, and maintenance of potable and reclaimed water meters.

•Perform the removal, replacement, and maintenance of residential dual check devices.

•Respond to reports of problems existing in the field, including but not limited to, water and reclaimed water meters.

•Gather and maintain tools and equipment needed for the day. Ensure proper supplies and equipment are at the job sites for installation.

•Safely operate motor vehicles and all equipment owned by CCUA.

•Maintain CCUA vehicle, tools, and equipment. 

•Complete required documentation for reporting and tracking purposes.

•Respond to customer complaints that may occur after work was performed.

•Complete CarteGraph tickets and work orders for jobs, as necessary.

•Assist all departments with special projects or excessive workloads in other areas when needed.

•Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

•High School Diploma or equivalent

•Level 3 Water Distribution System Operator License Preferred

•Valid Class “E” Florida Driver’s License and satisfactory driver's record based on the criteria listed in the Clay County Utility Authority handbook.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

•Job Specific KSA’s – Knowledge of local area; knowledge of pipefitting and fire hydrants; able to operate heavy equipment and pull trailers; mechanical aptitude; able to read maps and blueprints.

•Customer Service – Provide a high level of service to the targeted customer base.  Respond promptly and accurately to internal and external requests for information.

•Team Orientation and Interpersonal – Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels of the organization; collaborate and work with individuals containing a variety of knowledge levels and expertise. Work productively on a team and independently.

•Communication – Effective verbal and written communication. Able to use correct language and grammar in a professional, diplomatic, and tactful manner. Public speaking and presentation skills.

•Organization and Time Management – Able to work independently with minimal supervision; plan, prioritize, and organize work, meetings, and projects to meet deadlines.

•Analytical Problem-Solving and Decision Making – Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Research, analyze, identify viable options, draw sound conclusions, and make thoughtful recommendations.

•Systems & Software – Proficient use of Outlook. Knowledge of GIS and Cartegraph preferred.
