Position Overview
The Senior Accountant – Record to Report (R2R) ensures timely, accurate, and compliant financial closing and reporting processes leveraging SAP S/4HANA. This role focuses on Internal Orders (CO-IO), Fixed Assets (FI-AA), General Ledger reconciliations, FX reclassifications, and interfaces with manufacturing systems (QAD). It is an individual contributor position, reporting to the Lead Accountant within a Shared Services environment. The role requires bilingual capabilities (Spanish–English).
Key Responsibilities
Internal Orders (CO-IO): Creation, monitoring, freeze/release, weekly and final settlements, variance checks, % completion reviews, and coordination of D+1 manufacturing files. Resolve discrepancies and monitor QAD interface errors.
Foreign Currency and Reclassifications: Prepare Hard Currency reconciliation entries, perform FX valuations, and execute balance sheet reclassifications. Ensure accurate posting of exchange differences.
Fixed Assets (FI-AA): Capitalization, CIP management, creation of asset shells, asset transfers, retirements, leasing entries, and monthly depreciation runs. Validate useful lives against policies and reconcile balances to subledger. Manage accelerated depreciation when applicable.
Closing and Controls: Execute monthly/quarterly/annual closings. Prepare reconciliations, journal entries, and support audits (internal/external). Ensure compliance with SOX and internal control frameworks.
Data Quality and Continuous Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in R2R processes, propose automation or system enhancements, and maintain high data integrity in SAP S/4HANA. Collaborate with IT and Finance for process improvements.
Access Reviews: Participate in user access reviews to ensure compliance with segregation of duties (SoD) policies.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA/IFRS/US GAAP certifications desirable.
5–7 years of experience in General Ledger/R2R, preferably in a Shared Services environment.
Hands-on expertise in SAP S/4HANA modules FI-GL, FI-AA, CO-IO.
Proficiency in Foreign Currency Valuation, Balance Sheet Reclassification, and Fixed Asset Accounting.
Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, reconciliation templates).
Strong communication skills; fluent in Spanish and English.
