The Unit Ambassador at City of Hope plays a vital role in providing clerical support and ensuring the continuous monitoring of patients' EKG waveforms in a centralized monitoring station. This position combines administrative responsibilities with patient care support, requiring effective communication skills, previous patient care experience, and proficiency in computer and keyboarding skills. The Unit Ambassador is responsible for maintaining a smooth flow of information and patient monitoring within the unit, aiding in the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.
As a successful candidate, you will:
Clerical Support: Act as the primary clerical resource for the unit by performing unit secretary duties, including data entry, record-keeping, and assisting with administrative tasks.
Receptionist Duties: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and healthcare professionals at the unit's reception area, ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment.
Patient Care Assistance: Collaborate with the Registered Nurse (RN) and healthcare team to assist with patient activities as needed, such as helping with transfers, obtaining supplies, and attending to patient requests.
Communication: Maintain effective communication within the unit, ensuring that relevant information is shared promptly among the healthcare team members.
EKG Monitoring: Operate and monitor cardiac rhythm waveforms at a centralized monitoring station, promptly notifying healthcare providers of any cardiac rhythm changes.
Patient Observation: Continuously observe and document patient monitors, recognizing and reporting any abnormalities or irregularities in patients' vital signs or EKG waveforms.
