City of Hope Orange County is transforming cancer treatment by bringing world-class expertise and specialized care closer to home. Supported by a regional network of care, our 11-acre academic cancer campus in Irvine is home to City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, our outpatient cancer center, and Orange County’s only cancer specialty hospital, opening in late 2025.

With the opening of the hospital, the full continuum of advanced cancer care—from prevention through survivorship—will be available in Orange County for the first time, eliminating the need to travel for lifesaving treatment. Seamlessly connected to our outpatient cancer center, the new clinical research hospital will feature seventy-three inpatient beds, advanced surgical suites, groundbreaking clinical trials, and holistic services such as rehabilitative therapy and spiritual care. This is not standard cancer care. This is lifesaving cancer care. This is Hope.

 

Are you a skilled and motivated Physician Assistant looking to make a real impact in surgical oncology?  We are looking for dedicated and compassionate Physician Assistants to join our high-performing inpatient team, delivering exceptional patient care to patients undergoing complex cancer treatments and surgeries.  You will work side by side with top physicians across two surgical teams consisting of gynecologic oncology, urology, and surgical oncology, plastics, GI, and breast oncology.

In this role, you’ll be an essential part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, managing patients through pre- and post-operative care in the inpatient setting. You will have the opportunity to exercise both independent judgement and team-based decision making, contributing to every stage of the surgical care process. We are looking for full-time, days and nights Physician Assistants to provide 24/7 coverage.  We have multiple positions available. 

 

As a successful candidate, you will:  

  • Perform history and physical assessments of patients that are accurate, concise, relevant, and appropriate.

  • Solid foundation in managing complex oncology cases, including post-op care, complications, and cancer-related treatments.

  • Confident in making autonomous decisions while knowing when to collaborate with attending surgeons and specialists.

  • Able to clearly communicate with patients, families, and a multidisciplinary team, providing education, support, and timely updates.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care with modifications as needed and in coordination with the attending physician when appropriate.

  • Demonstrate pharmacologic knowledge including indications, contraindications, side effects, interactions, and adverse effects of pharmacologic agents.

  • Review treatment and therapy plans with patients and appropriate family members.

  • Practice clinical care informed by evidence-based literature.

  • Instruct and counsel patients in matters related to health care management including diet, medication and physical and mental health needs and refers to the appropriate specialists when appropriate.



Your qualifications should include:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Master’s degree
  • Three years as a Physician Assistant is preferred
  • Unrestricted, Current Physician Assistant license
  • Certified California Physician Assistant license
  • Current DEA license required
  • Current BLS certification from American Heart Association
  • Current ACLS certification from American Heart Association
