Position Summary:
Performs clerical/reception duties, interacts with patients in the department, and schedules procedures and vendors for Perioperative Services. Interacts positively with patients, their families.
As a successful candidate, you will:
Schedules operative procedures in accordance with OR standards, policy and procedure.
Confers with the department leadership team concerning the surgery schedule.
Apprises Nursing Manager or designee immediately of circumstances which may result in surgery schedule disruption, the projection of negative impressions or other consequences adversely affecting patient care.
Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department and interdepartmental objectives and maintain good employee relations.
Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
Prioritizes work and provides prompt and efficient service.
Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards.
Attends meetings as required.
Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines. Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
Answers telephones, screens and routes callers, takes accurate messages and provides complete information to callers.
Assists with the movement of patients and visitors within perioperative services.
Your qualifications should include:
Education: High School or equivalent; Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements
Minimum Experience: One year previous experience within a healthcare setting
Preferred Education: Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training
Preferred Courses/Training: Medical terminology and efficiency with computers and software packages
Pref. Certification/Licensure: CPR
