Job Description
 

Overview

The Manager- Nighttime Economy and Responsible Hospitality is responsible for establishing and executing strategy to support, attract and retain businesses within the nighttime economy by utilizing city resources across multiple departments. This role manages the resources required to balance public safety, quality of life, and vibrancy within the marketplace to create a positive social experience for residents and visitors.

Essential Functions

1 Designs, develops, and evaluates economic development strategies supporting the needs of the nighttime ecosystem.

2 Assists in the development, preparation, management, and implementation of the department budget; reviews budget submissions, provides sound recommendations.

3 Directs and manages client relationships and develops strong partnerships; responds to inquiries, solves problems, and meets with various applicants to understand event goals and scope; and verifies contractual deliverables and performance measures.

4 Assist existing businesses with city processes including the Promoter Registration Program and access to resources to strengthen the sector.

5 Participate in legislative discussions to assist in informing policy that impact the nighttime economy.

6 Provides training, professional development, and performance evaluation for all staff supporting events; ensures all personnel are properly certified and up to date on all contract logistics, policy standards, and procedural goals.

7 Conduct research, identify opportunities for business attraction and retention efforts in the night economy.

8 Observes nightlife activity in various neighborhoods and reports trends and impacts.

9 Guides new hospitality businesses through process of opening a new business understanding regulations and requirements.

10 Researching and coordination of research on “Best Practices” for the nighttime economy at local, national, and international levels.

11 Disseminates information using various social media platform and collaborating with the Director of Communications in Commerce.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1 Excellent verbal, written and computer communication skills are essential.

2 Proficiency in Microsoft Suite products; MS Word, PowerPoint and Client Management software essential.

3 Strong time management and organizational skills, including attention to detail and abilities to prioritize tasks and keep multiple projects moving simultaneously.

4 Facilitates communication and promotes an atmosphere of trust, transparency, and collaboration among diverse stakeholders.

5 Diplomacy and the ability to facilitate problem resolution.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Entertainment, Arts, Music, Economic Development, Planning, Business, Hospitality Management, Public Administration, or related field.

 
EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) years of experience in an entrepreneurial role in any of the following:

    • entertainment industry

    • economic/urban development

    • public improvement districts

    • neighborhood vitality

    • convention/visitor bureau

    • responsible hospitality

    • social economy management

AND  

  • Two (2) years supervision/project management responsibilities. (This experience may be included in the required experience listed above.)

 
EQUIVALENCIES:

  • High school diploma or GED plus nine (9) years of the required experience including two (2) years of the stated supervision/project management responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements. 

  • An associate degree in any field plus seven (7) years of the required experience including two (2) years of the stated supervisory/management responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in a non-specified field plus seven (7) years of the required experience including two (2) years of the stated supervision/project management responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.

  • A master's degree or higher in a specified field plus three (3) years of the required experience including two (2) years of the stated supervision/project management responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements. 


 LICENSE: 

  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.



Salary Range

 

$77,272.00 - $96,574.40


 

The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
