Job Summary

Performs a variety of skilled difficult or complex maintenance tasks in field and ground maintenance; asphalt/paving repair and marking; climate control operation; parking meter repair, bench repair, and collection; traffic signs and marking; water system preventative maintenance and repair; and water meter testing and repair.


Job Description
 

Overview

The Industrial Mechanic provides senior level mechanical experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of various industrial equipment, vehicles, or heavy automotive equipment.

Essential Functions

1 Diagnoses, identifies, and determines equipment failures; identifies cause and ensures appropriate and professional repairs are completed by the mechanics.

2 Inspects and tests completed work to ensure repairs were performed according to standards; provides direction and leadership for industrial equipment serving aviation, utilities, and other departments.

3 Researches and orders parts needed for repairs, maintains records of purchases and installations according to established procedures, and keeps inventory of items needed for industrial equipment and vehicles.

4 Demonstrates proper work methods and safety procedures to other mechanics and helpers to ensure that work is performed in a proper and safe manner and to assist with complex repairs.

5 Inspects and executes repair, replacement, fabrication, modification, and installation of various types of plant equipment, including pumps, valves, chemical handling equipment, and all other related equipment in a timely manner to allow continuous operation of plant facilities when equipment malfunctions occur.

6 Performs major and minor repairs on a variety of machinery and mechanical equipment, including air conditioning, heating and ventilation equipment, in compliance with operation manuals and manufacturer’s specifications to ensure equipment operates properly.

7 Changes belts, oil, filters, greases bearings, clean, lubricates or replaces parts on various mechanical and electrical equipment; troubleshoots mechanical and electrical equipment and provides expertise on industrial, aviation, and heavy equipment.

8 Serves as lead worker over lower level mechanics.

9 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

1 Thorough knowledge of the mechanical systems assigned.

2 Thorough knowledge of the principals of maintenance and repair.

3 Skill in the use of appropriate hand tools and repair techniques.

4 Ability to read and interpret instructions and diagrams contained in the manufacturer’s manuals.

5 Ability to analyze and diagnose problems

6 Ability to operate computer diagnostic equipment.

7 Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

8 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE

  • Four (4) years of experience performing preventative maintenance on various mechanical, electrical, HVAC, or heavy plant equipment.

LICENSE

  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Subject to twenty-four/seven (24/7) call-out.

  • Job openings in various locations.



Salary Range

 

$25.12 - $28.85
