Overview

Council Office District Chief of Staff is responsible for office operations, staff management, legislative coordination, public speaking, represent elected official at internal and external events, budget oversight, constituent case management, interdepartmental coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee office operations, supervise staff, coordinate legislative activities, and manage complex constituent relations.

• Supervise and manage day-to-day operations, duties, and roles of support staff.

• Oversee large District events, projects, or initiatives.

• Sets and monitors key performance indicators (KPI’s) for support staff.

• Reviews current processes and optimizes office productivity.

• Assists the HR Department with new hires, including interviews, documentation, and onboarding.

• Conducts and documents performance reviews for support staff.

• Serve as subject matter expert, handling high priority inquiries, developing action plans, and delegation of assignments.

• Manage and oversee office budget.

• May serve as primary card holder for office.

• Serve as the primary advisor to the elected official on political and policy matters.

• Represent the office in high-level meetings and public events.

• Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the office’s goals and objectives.

• Ensure compliance with the City’s Personnel Rules, and all other applicable laws, regulations, and policies.

• Coordinate with other government agencies, community organizations, and stakeholders.

• Draft speeches and talking points for the elected official for various events and engagements.

• Prepare and deliver reports and presentations to the elected official and other key stakeholders.

• Creating and maintaining cross-departments relationships

• Provide communication support; draft emails, reports, memos, speeches, presentations, and/or internal and external communications.

• Support Council Member with strategic planning; project management

• Constituent Services which includes helping connect residents to City of Dallas resources and information.

• Assist prospective Boards and Commissioners with the application process.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Public Administration-related field.

Experience

7 years’ experience in government or political organizations including 5 years of leadership.



Salary Range

 

$81,120.00 - $101,400.00


 

The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
