Athletic Field Supervisor

 

JOB TITLE:                 Recreation Athletic Field Supervisor

CLASSIFICATION:    Non-Exempt – Part Time

DEPARTMENT:        Recreation

SUPERVISOR:          Recreation Manager

SALARY:                    $14-$16 Per Hour

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION                                                                                                  

Supervise baseball/softball field lights and complex operations.  Supervise teams and their use of the field lights ensuring proper use of the lights for each program. Ensure teams are following the rules described in their rental agreement (timeframe, no metal cleats on synthetic fields, etc.) Employees will be required to turn on and off field lights at a maximum of 7 complexes needed for teams playing on City of Cheyenne athletic fields.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                              

  • Independently supervise sports and activities held at City of Cheyenne ball fields. Including groups using and not using field lights.
  • The employee will be responsible for activating and deactivating the field lights as needed for teams playing on the athletic fields.
  • Oversee field usage.
  • Ensure that fields needing lights turned on/off are done in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that no teams/groups/individuals are utilizing the field lights without a reservation.
  • Ensure that all teams/groups/individuals are adhering to all rules and regulations set forth by the City of Cheyenne Community Recreation and Events Department.

 

 

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                                                               

  • Ensure fields, dugouts, and public areas remain clean and safe.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES                                                                            

  • Uphold and enforce rules given by the City of Cheyenne.
  • Understand the organization and operation of the City and of outside agencies as necessary to assume assigned responsibilities.
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision.
  • Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including City officials and the general public.
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following:

Walking, standing or sitting, for extended periods of time      

  • Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:

Making observations

                     Communicating with others

                     Reading and writing

  • Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of:

                     Making sound decisions

   Demonstrating intellectual capabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

  • Must be 16 years of age at the time of applying

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS                                                                                         

 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing. The employee is also required to maintain physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 30 pounds. Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions demonstrating intellectual capabilities.

 

Working Environment:

Both indoor and outdoor environment; irregular working hours, including weekends.
