SUMMARY

This internship is based at Charlotte Douglas International Airport and will assist with compliance of the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program (DBE), Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program (ACDBE), The Charlotte Business Inclusion (CBI) program, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VI). This position reports to the Accessibility & Equity Manager.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with data collection and reporting requirements to ensure compliance with DBE, ACDBE, CBI, ADA, and Title VI requirements.
  • Assist with tracking and analysis of DBE, ACDBE and CBI participation on current contracts and sub concession agreements.
  • Assist with Davis Bacon Wage compliance and tracking certified payroll reports.
  • Assist with preparing presentations and reports related to ADA and Title VI data.
  • Assist with preparing meeting agendas, taking notes, and organizing documentation.
  • Support the planning and execution of outreach efforts, workshops, and training sessions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Current enrollment in an accredited college or university leading towards a bachelor's degree with major course work in a related field of study specific to the departmental and/or work assignment.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Familiarity with small business opportunity programs, Title VI, or ADA regulations is a plus, but not required.
  • Interest in Civil Rights compliance or public policy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and other MS Office Programs with the ability to learn new programs quickly.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

  • Standard office hours apply, however, schedule subject to irregular hours, change and emergency arrivals back to work.
  • Valid driver’s license from state of residency with no more than 6 points with the ability to obtain and maintain City driving permit.
  • Certain convictions within will disqualify individuals from unescorted access privileges and therefore exclude from employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position is sedentary in nature and may require extended periods of sitting.  This position may also require driving, bending, twisting, reaching and the ability to lift and care up to 25 lbs. for a short distance.
