SUMMARY

The Commercial and Community Engagement team of the City of Charlotte, Aviation Department is seeking a driven and detail-oriented college student to support its Commercial Engagement initiatives. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the planning, development, and management of commercial real estate assets such as retail, office, hospitality, and industrial developments.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the planning and analysis of non-aeronautical real estate projects, including land use assessments, site planning, and development feasibility.
  • Conduct market research and benchmarking on comparable airport and non-airport commercial developments.
  • Help prepare financial models, proformas, and return-on-investment analyses for proposed developments.
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings and assist in preparing presentations, reports, and visual materials.
  • Memorialize past non-aeronautical commercial development deals
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external consultants on project coordination.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program pursuing a degree in Real Estate, Urban Planning, Finance, Business, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in commercial real estate development, public-private partnerships, or airport land use.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint)

Required Licenses or Certifications

  • None

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior internship or coursework in real estate development, economic development, or municipal planning.
  • Understanding of non-aeronautical revenue strategies in airport environments.

  • Ability to operate in an environment with frequent interruptions from people and or noises, which in return could result in some level of stress, fatigue, or strain
