Purpose:
Under general direction, supervise the activities and operations of security personnel in protecting property, operations and personnel.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
Confirm presence and activities of scheduled security officers at assigned sites.
Identify and notify replacement personnel to assume vacant guard assignments.
Perform the duties of security officers when necessary.
Provide direction and training to site officers and contract employees as needed to accomplish service goals.
Review site documentation, activity and guard tour reports.
Monitor welfare of security personnel working after-hour and remote assignments.
Provide officer backup when investigating irregularities.
Provide supplies, materials and implement temporary repairs to compromised fence, gate and lock systems.
Respond to alarm notifications.
Patrol utility sub-stations, un-staffed facilities, construction lay-down yards, and other sites as needed.
Meet and provide access to law enforcement agencies to secured and/or energized areas as needed.
Provide periodic reports to management regarding site activities, irregularities, and identifying needed action.
Work outside scheduled hours to ensure consistent coverage, attend training classes, meetings and other activities as needed to meet the business needs of the organization and the workgroup.
Assume on-call duty as assigned, responding to security needs and reporting to duty as necessary.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Knowledge of or an ability to learn all safety practices related to working in energized areas, power plants and other utility specific environments and other safety practices, procedures and regulations, which contribute to a safe workplace.

Knowledge of city practice, policy, and procedure, statutes, ordinances, and criminal law.

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus five (5) years' experience, employed in a security related position, of which two (2) years were in a lead or supervisor capacity.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
Valid Texas Class C and/or Commercial Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience planning, scheduling and coordinating security
operations for special events.
Professional security-related certifications and/or designations such as Physical Security Professional (PSP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), and/or Certified Protection Professional (CPP), or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
Demonstrated experience evaluating, assessing and analyzing the performance of security personnel.
Knowledge and experience with Texas Open Carry Laws/Ordinances and
Criminal Trespass within the City, State and Federal levels.
Demonstrated experience operating various Security Access Control and CCTV Systems which may include: C-Cure 9000, Lenel ONGUARD, Continuum, Pelco, American Dynamics, Avigilon, Salient and other
access control systems and badging functions/activities.
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel, Outlook, Word,
PowerPoint.
