General Description and Classification Standards

The position:

  • Reports to the Assistant Director of Engineering.
  • Provides electrical engineering direction, inter-disciplinary coordination and leadership to the design staff in execution of Department of Aviation projects.
  • Provides support to the Capital Improvement Program through design reviews and coordination with related projects.
  • Provides support and coordination to Construction Managers and Project Managers when requested.
  • Manages and organizes resources to accomplish specific task assignments in the areas of planning, project and facility management, design and design management, and construction management.
  • Is a highly experienced professional who routinely exercises project leadership over complex projects, trains other professionals, or serves as a specialized subject matter expert in one or more specific areas.
  • Is expected to have noticeably greater leadership or technical responsibilities than the Senior level.
  • Is NOT a routine promotion and the specific justification for classification must be documented.

Supervision Received

Works independently and only sees a supervisor occasionally for administrative supervision on assignments given in terms of broad general objectives, limits and organizational priorities.
