What you’ll be doing

You’ll be a key part of an innovative, “first to market” business & technology culture, transforming CIBC’s tools and platforms, used by over 20,000 frontline team members to deliver exceptional client experiences every day.

As a Director, Frontline Platform Strategy, reporting to the Senior Director, Frontline Platform Strategy you will lead a small team of Strategy Analysts, Consultants and Senior Consultants working with business and technology partners to develop the end-to-end capability and hardware strategy for CIBC’s frontline channels (branches, mobile advice, contact centres). The Director ensures capability and technology solutions, communication, implementation and management of strategies, policies and programs are well aligned and integrate to deliver on the banking needs of our clients. Using  technology and implementation tactics, the role will provide outcome driven strategies and professional advice on complex and conceptual project initiatives and solve business problems, working in collaboration with specialized consultants and team members.

What you’ll be doing 

As an integral member of the National Office Communication and reporting to the Director, Communications, the Senior Consultant, Communications will join a team of National Office communications professionals who turn business strategy into action through clear and purposeful communication so that frontline leaders and employees in Personal Banking, Imperial Service, and Specialized Advice have the information they need to operate efficiently, grow our business, protect our brand and help make our clients’ ambitions a reality. This role entails exhibiting advanced leadership and influence by independently making strategic decisions and taking ownership of complex, impactful initiatives. In addition, the Senior Consultant is expected to act as a mentor and key point of contact, consistently sharing expertise, providing guidance, and fostering development of team members.

How you’ll succeed

  • Accelerating our strategy - adaptively applies innovative & new solutions to achieve results, collaborating with the senior leadership team across various lines of business to identify areas of strategic focus and determine relative priority of optimization & modernization improvement efforts.

  • Project leadership – Initiate complex and/or large-scale projects and sprints,  in partnership with Technology and Personal and Business Banking, by developing strategic scope documents, appropriate business cases, outlining costs and benefits, resources, client and frontline journeys, timeframes and any other related requirements for highly complex platforms and business initiatives for Personal and Business Banking

  • People leadership & development – Direct and manage all aspects of strategy development and road mapping. Be a bold and authentic leader who is passionate about developing and coaching to bring out the best in people. Direct, motivate, develop and manage performance of the management team and key staff

  • Strategic design & planning - Support the development of comprehensive business strategies with supporting initiatives and plans (multi-year roadmaps) to enable us to deliver on our mandate, goals and objectives. Perform research to evaluate potential opportunities and ensure the team has robust competitive intelligence and strong awareness of trends, industry developments, client needs and regulatory changes.

  • Business architecture – Bridge the gap between technology architecture and business process design, aligning business operations and strategic priorities with complex infrastructure requirements, creating actionable strategies that keep the client and employee experience front and centre

  • Innovation, Client Focus - Stay up to date on latest innovations and challenge the status quo while bringing a client focus on clients and users. You will provide thought leadership, look for innovative solutions and embrace evolving trends in financial services processes. You will seek out market intelligence and be a strong advance for innovative thinking in the financial service space.

Who you are

  • You are a bold and accountable leader. You have experience managing and developing a highly specialized and productive team (5 years min)

  • Strong business acumen and you can connect the dots between the enterprise, business unit and distribution/channel strategies and provide recommendations to ensure outcomes align to collective goals and objectives (including financial analysis, strategic prioritization, etc)

  • You solve challenges using design, and user-centric thinking - bringing a strong skill base in Design thinking, facilitation, journey mapping, strategy synthesis & facilitation  

  • You are an inspiring storyteller utilizing both oral and written (PowerPoint, videos, etc.) communication mediums to effectively sell an idea to a wide variety of audiences, including senior executives

  • Digital pioneer, with extensive knowledge & experience with technology (e.g. apps; web/mobile tech; windows based applications and platforms, legacy/mainframe platform modernization). Experience with PEGA and Salesforce is an asset. A general passion for all things digital is a must!
