Job Overview

Nova Space Solutions (NSS) is seeking a Project Controls candidate to join our Engineering Services Department team at NASA Michoud Assembly Facility, Louisiana. The ideal candidate is responsible for planning, resource management, and scheduling of all work on the COSMIC contract.  Participates in cross-functional team meetings to develop scope delivery and coordinates across multiple disciplines to achieve the plans.  Designs project/program/core requirements schedules of data in all project life cycles.  Schedules and maintains knowledge of all key project milestones.  Administers projects from conceptualization to implementation and evaluate all issues.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Develops, monitors, and updates integrated project plans and schedules so that projects can be executed in the most efficient manner possible.
  • Prepares baseline schedules and schedule basis documents for approval by project teams and for integration into a master schedule.
  • Assesses impacts to the critical path and near-critical activities, reporting findings to the project team.
  • Monitors schedule deviations and variances and assists in the development of alternate methods for corrective action.
  • Analyzes change orders/revisions to Task Orders for cost and schedule impacts.
  • Resource loads schedules and works with Project Managers to status and perform jobsite walks to verify physical progress of scheduled activities as needed.
  • Prepare cost status reports (CSR’s) and update as required through the project life cycle.
  • Reports labor and cost in collaboration with project management and accounting for accrual and month end reporting.
  • At the completion of a project, prepares project closeout to record the project’s data for historical information and use.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Maximo workflow.
  • Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three (3) or more years as a Project Planner/Scheduler professional.
  • Experience working with tactical and strategic planning.
  • Experience working with Project Management software.
  • Experience publishing Project schedules and resource allocation schedules, enabling consistent high, on-time delivery of requirements.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to obtain required NASA badge. Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
  • Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in a clear and effective manner.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen test.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

 

Special Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of Federal and NASA regulations and procedures preferred.
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality of sensitive material and communications.
  • Proficient in standard business office software.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to think independently and handle multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated independent work initiative, sound judgement, diplomacy, and professional demeanor.
  • Able to make effective presentations to diverse groups.
  • Able to pay close attention to detail.
  • Able to take direction.
