Chromalloy is seeking an Additive Manufacturing Engineer to join our Advanced Manufacturing Group. This role will focus on laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) material development and end-use component manufacturing, while also supporting laser powder welding repair applications for both New Product Introduction (NPI) and optimization/troubleshooting of legacy repairs. The ideal candidate will combine hands-on technical expertise with a collaborative mindset and a passion for mentoring.

Key Responsibilities:

Additive Manufacturing Development:

  • Lead material development and process optimization for LPBF components.
  • Support design-for-additive initiatives and qualification of end-use parts.

Repair Applications & Welding Processes:

  • Contribute to development and improvement of laser powder welding techniques.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize legacy repair processes to enhance reliability and efficiency.

NPI & Continuous Improvement:

  • Collaborate on cladding and additive components for new PMA parts and repair offerings.
  • Drive process improvements and implement best practices across manufacturing sites.

Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing:

  • Engage with and mentor junior engineers in laser-based welding and additive technologies.
  • Promote technical excellence and workforce upskilling.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in additive manufacturing, preferably LPBF. 
  • Hands-on experience with laser powder welding and repair applications.
  • Strong understanding of AM process parameters, material properties, and qualification standards.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM tools and metallurgical analysis techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities with excellent communication
