ChristianaCare Oncology at Union is looking for a Medical Assistant II.
 

The ChristianaCare Oncology at Union is located at 111 West High Street in Elkton, Maryland. ChristianaCare Union Hospital offers advanced cancer care, including screening and detection services for common cancers like breast, colon, skin, and prostate.


Our services include:

  • Screening & Detection for common cancers such as breast, colon, skin, and prostate.
  • Inpatient & Outpatient Care delivered at Union Hospital and in collaboration with ChristianaCare’s Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute and Radiation Oncology specialists.
  • Infusion Therapy Center providing chemotherapy, biotherapy, IV antibiotics, blood transfusions, and therapeutic injections.
  • Cancer Resource Center offering education and volunteer support throughout treatment.

Our programs are staffed by oncology-certified nurses, with infusion center nurses additionally certified in chemotherapy and biotherapy. A dedicated social worker assists patients and families with resources, insurance guidance, and support groups. ChristianaCare is committed to delivering state-of-the-art cancer care close to home, ensuring compassionate support and expert treatment every step of the way.

As the Medical Assistant II, will focus on ensuring high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include assisting healthcare providers during examinations and treatments for both virtual and on-site appointments. The Medical Assistant II entails taking on a leadership role, mentoring office staff, and facilitating various operational functions and duties within the practice.
 

Work Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday from 8am to 4:30pm
     

Duties & Responsibilities:
The Medical Assistant II is responsible for a variety of tasks both for virtual and on-site patient care. This includes rooming patients, recording vital signs, performing point of care testing, injections, medication administration, and EKGs according to practice needs. The Medical Assistant II assists clinicians during examinations and procedures, prepare treatment rooms with necessary supplies, and complete patient-specific paperwork. Staying compliant with EMR standards, the Medical Assistant II ensures that all pertinent test results are up to date for upcoming patient visits and provides adequate coverage amid staff shortages. The Medical Assistant II participates in new hire orientations and educational initiatives as directed, handles patient callbacks as instructed by providers, and adheres to state guidelines for sterilization of medical equipment. Responsibilities also encompass managing prior authorizations, referrals, medical refills, and scheduling tests, procedures, and surgeries. Quality control of all POCT equipment is conducted, and they assist providers with documentation during examinations. The Medical Assistant II further includes clerical duties as assigned, ordering and maintaining clinical supplies, and ensuring safe work practices.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or GED required.

  • A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program and hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) or obtain within three months of hire.

  • Two years’ experience as a Medical Assistant, is required, three years’ is preferred.

Hourly Pay Range: $19.84 - $29.76

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
