Job Summary
The Mental Health Therapist Hospital Based provides mental health services to patients and their families who are seeking hospital-based mental health services in the context of a mental health crisis. Duties may include mental health and diagnostic assessment, treatment planning, consultation, crisis intervention, therapeutic intervention, case management, and discharge planning.Pay Range
Minimum $43.00 Midpoint $43.50 Maximum $44.00Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
Experience
• Required: Minimum 1 year experience with youth in mental health crisis and minimum 1 year experience delivering clinical mental health services
• Preferred: One or more years post-graduate experience with youth in mental health crisis; experience with a hospital system, residential treatment program, community-based crisis service, or other setting serving acute mental health needs
Education
• Required: Master’s degree in psychology, marriage and family therapy, social work, and/or counseling

• Preferred: Prior LPS designation, crisis de-escalation training, manual holds training
Specialized Skills
• Required: Crisis evaluation and de-escalation; trauma-informed care; safety planning; ability to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Fluent in written and spoken English. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal relationship and collaboration skills. Ability to use computer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Ability to think critically; work independently; manage multiple assignments; compose written materials; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; pay close attention to detail.
• Preferred: Risk assessment (danger to self, danger to others, grave disability) and management; fluent knowledge of community resources relevant to disposition planning
Licensure
• Required: • Required: Basic Life Support (BLS), associate must be registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW) or Associate Marriage Family Therapist (AMFT). Associate must possess a master’s degree from an accredited university.
