Job Summary

The Medical Assistant I (MA I) is an unlicensed healthcare professional who performs routine technical services within the medical practice settings under the supervision of the physician and the department’s leadership staff. The associate in this role possesses knowledge and skills to function efficiently in the back office and / or front office.

Pay Range

Minimum $20.94 Midpoint $27.73 Maximum $34.54

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

Required: Previous work experience or externship in a healthcare setting.

Preferred:

Education

Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent. Graduate of a vocational school having successfully completed requirements for MA.

Required: Knowledge and ability to provide appropriate patient care depending on age, cultural, and spiritual needs. Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards. Advance care through development of new ideas and technology. Promote teamwork to achieve CHOC's mission, understanding, and exceeding patient and family expectations. Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English effectively at a level appropriate for the safe and effective performance of the job. Proficient in medical terminology. Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.

Preferred: Bilingual in English/Spanish.

Licensure

Required: Basic Life Support (BLS); Medical Assistant Diploma.

Work Environments - Functional Demand:

Medium - High energy level Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Push/pull +/- 150-200 lbs. (Patients on bed, stretcher) Lateral transfer 150-200 lbs. (ie. Patient) .
