Position Summary:

The Parent Advocate will act as an advocate for Children’s Wisconsin’s biological families; functioning as a go-between Children’s Wisconsin and birthparents.  Serves as an objective and impartial agency representative to provide assistance and support for birth families and Children's Community Services employees by incorporating the lived experience into our child welfare practice and program as well as linking these individuals with needed resources. .

Position Requirements:

  • High School education or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior involvement with the child welfare system.
  • Willingness to share lived experiences with the child welfare system with other parents and social work staff as a learning tool.  
  • Demonstrates and embraces the spirit of collaboration
  • Knowledge of the community.
  • Ability to work with children, families and other professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and to meet deadlines.
  • Good organizational skills, and some computer skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.  Ability to present and speak publicly.
