A Brief Overview
The Security Control Center Operator is responsible for monitoring the physical security systems, electronic security systems and fire systems, answering telephone requests for service, dispatching security officers in response to incidents and requests for services, recording accurate information, and knowing the location of all security personnel assets for efficient deployment in an emergency. Has primary responsibility for coordination of security activities in conjunction with the security manager and security supervisor. Responsible for general clerical support for the Department leadership, including data collection and report preparation. Responsible for fire monitoring and alarm systems and working closely with facilities and safety to ensure adequate fire system testing and maintenance by taking systems off-line as directed. Assist security personnel in making identification badges.

Essential Functions

  • Functions as Security Control Center dispatch and coordinator: 
  • Emergency response to fire alarms. 
  • Operates security cameras and computer system. 
  • Access control monitoring and operation of the security computer systems. 
  • Coordinates issuance of access credentials to patient family members. 
  • Answers video-telephones to verify identity and permit/deny access to specific areas in accordance with policy and standard operating procedures. 
  • Operates parking garage and ambulance doors. 
  • Facility computer systems for elevators, industrial generator alarms and building automation system... 
  • Responsible for complete Security Center operations. 
  • Coordinate security work orders, ensuring work orders are entered into the appropriate work order/management system for tracking until completion. 
  • Maintain a proper activity log for their shift. 
  • Maintains accountability for all officers in the computer-aided dispatch system. 
  • Coordinates with the ED and Transport Teams to ensure support for helicopter landings. 
  • Facilitates communication between security contractors and the security department.
  • Control Center Support: 
    • May announce emergency pages as appropriate during disaster. 
    • May support investigative efforts through access control reports and video monitoring reviews. 
    • Serves as support for the incident command center during emergency situations 
    • Assists with coordination of activities during internal and external emergencies. 
    • Assist Law Enforcement Officers with investigations. 
    • Prioritized and assigns responsibility for all requests for service. 
    • Dispatch the appropriate staff to address request. 
    • Answer family member’s questions. 
    • Offers parking directions. 
    • Coordinate with armed courier on money delivering. 
    • Assist security leadership with CP-clinic requests. 
    • Maintains lost and found bins. 
    • Active listening to police scanner.
  • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.
  • Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section


Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D Required

Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years experience in operation of security systems and dispatch center Required

Skills and Abilities

  • Adaptability to numerous computer programs including Access, excel, and word is required.
  • Telephone communication skill and public relations skills required.
  • Attention to detail in operation and reporting of activity.
  • Must be able to demonstrate computer skills, voice clarity and radio proto call skills.

Licenses and Certifications

  • IAHSS basic certification within 1 Year Required
  • Certified Healthcare Security Officer within 180 Days Preferred
  • Certified Advanced Healthcare Security Officer within 180 Days Preferred
  • Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor Officer within 180 Days Preferred
