Overview

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is responsible for providing direct patient care under the supervision of the charge nurse with clinical guidance from a clinically licensed behavioral health professional (BCBA, Psychologist, Psychiatrist, Therapist). Direct patient care generally includes maintaining the safety of patients and others; the direct observation of patients; the implementation of individualized behavior plans; data collection and entry; and ongoing communication within a collaborative, interdisciplinary, healthcare team. Most patients will be under 18 years old with complex behavioral and mental health needs, frequently with comorbid medical illnesses.

If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care and observation with guidance from clinically licensed behavioral health providers and nursing staff, promoting family centered care in a healing environment.
  • Demonstrates skill and judgment necessary to provide safe and effective care to patients, including those with complex behavior and/or mental health needs, under the supervision of the nursing team.
  • Provides crisis intervention and initiates emergency response plan, when necessary
  • Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment and promotes efficiency of operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Psychology, Social Work, Behavior Analysis, or related field and No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training or
  • HS diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years experience A minimum of one(1) years serving individuals with developmental disabilities, psychiatric disorders or behavioral needs or one (1) years working in an inpatient psychiatric unit, preferably with adolescents and children
  • Other Hospital approved behavior management program required within 90 days

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $19.68/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.
