A Brief Overview

Make a difference where it matters most. As an Acute Care Technician, you’ll be a vital part of the inpatient care team, delivering hands-on, high-impact care to patients and families around the clock. Working under the guidance of a registered nurse, you’ll perform a wide range of technical and specialized clinical skills both invasive and non-invasive while supporting safe, compassionate, and efficient hospital operations.

This role is ideal for clinicians who thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy variety in their day-to-day work, and are eager to build advanced clinical skills in a collaborative hospital setting. What you will do

  • Assist RNs in delivering patient care, including admissions, intake, and ongoing monitoring of patients and families.

  • Obtain, document, and communicate vital signs, weights, allergies, interventions, and changes in patient condition.

  • Provide safe patient transport, positioning, lifting, and transfers using appropriate equipment and techniques.

  • Monitor patients closely, escalate concerns promptly, and support safety and error-prevention practices.

  • Provide 1:1 observation for psychiatric emergencies and assist with restraint application and supervision per policy.

  • Perform wound care, dressing changes, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing under RN direction.

  • Assist with and perform clinical procedures such as IV insertion, venipuncture, catheterization, NG/OG placement, and oxygen administration as trained.

  • Support airway management, sedation recovery, EKGs, and monitoring during procedures and invasive line placement.

  • Prepare equipment and supplies for procedures and maintain proficiency with patient care and transport equipment.

  • Comply with CHOP policies and procedures while supporting unit-based clinical needs, including emergency, behavioral health, or vascular access functions as assigned.

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED - Required
  • Technical Diploma EMT-Paramedic, EMT, LPN or similar program - Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year Previous clinical healthcare experience - Required
  • ED/Critical Care Technician at another hospital - Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to perform clinical technical tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people of all ages.
  • Basic knowledge of growth and development.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - upon hire - Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - upon hire - Preferred or
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - upon hire - Preferred or
  • Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - upon hire - Preferred

SALARY RANGE:

$22.61 - $28.26 Hourly
