Job Description

Facilitates and manages day-to-day center operations, including fiscal and human resources processes. Supports and ensures that comprehensive patient care services are provided that support the integrity of the family system and patient care team. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Experience

  • 2 years of clinical experience in perioperative nursing
  • 2 years of experience in management/administration in a healthcare setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced education in business, management, or related field
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS)
  • Experience in an ambulatory surgery center

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in nursing

Certification Summary

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact
  • Professional Nurse certification within 1 year of employment or Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta management certification within 2 years
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment

Job Responsibilities

  • Assists in budget preparation and monthly analysis of budget performance.
  • Oversees department performance improvement process.
  • Demonstrates fiscal accountability and participates in achievement of department financial goals.
  • Evaluates staff competencies and skills, ensures appropriate utilization of staff and ongoing professional development, assists in development of effective orientation, and oversees completion of annual performance evaluations as required.
  • Collaborates with medical staff and all levels of hospital personnel to ensure high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
  • Manages ongoing process of healthcare delivery to patients and parents, incorporating age-related and developmental-specific requirements.
  • Promotes autonomy and accountability by fostering an environment for staff to collaborate in effective problem-solving at unit and nursing service level.
  • Oversees front office staff and manages scheduling activities, ensuring utilization of blocks and effective use of released time as applicable.
  • Focuses time and attention on key retention activities, e.g., enhanced hiring, identification, and action plans for retention risk factors, coaching and development, teambuilding, and communications.
  • Works collaboratively with point-of-care providers to offer advisement and support infrastructure for shared decision making at unit and system level.
  • Responsible for all aspects of managing and leading a team including interviewing, hiring, training, developing, directing work and processes, managing performance, recognizing, and rewarding employees.
  • Mentor team members to encourage personal and professional growth.
  • Encourage ongoing skill development by providing opportunities for continued education.
