Job Description

Facilitates and coordinates the competency, education, quality, and accreditation processes throughout Children’s NICU. Supports and ensures comprehensive orientation of staff to maintain quality patient care. Coordinates all accreditation and regulatory activities as assigned in collaboration with system accreditation team and state regulatory agencies. Provides education, consultation, and oversight for all clinical areas within Children's NICU to ensure maintenance of a continual accreditation readiness culture. Develops and implements outcomes management plans and models of care. Analyzes outcome trends and reports for purpose of performance improvement and enhancement of clinical practice. Supports and provides input to Epic as needed. Proactively supports efforts of safe patient care and services. Will have several direct reports.

Experience

  • 2 years of experience in education, clinical quality, accreditation, management, or similar experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in nursing or related field
  • 3 years pediatric or specialty nursing experience; Level 4 NICU highly preferred
  • Previous management experience

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in nursing

Certification Summary

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact
  • Professional nursing certification deemed by department within 1 year of employment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must possess excellent communication, organization, interpersonal, and management skills
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects
  • Ability to work with a variety of disciplines/departments/employees at all levels
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of employment

Job Responsibilities

Education

  • Provides oversight for orientation processes for clinical Physician Group staff.
  • Provides oversight and coordinates competency programs for all clinical staff.
  • Facilitates evaluation process, including providing educational activities designed to improve clinical competence and foster professional development through mentoring and performance review.
  • Participates in and supports education initiatives at system level.
  • Coordinates student orientation/participant observation programs and works with site leadership to facilitate shadowing experiences.
  • Provides leadership to educator team for Children's Physician Group.

Quality

  • Monitors trends and facilitates development of high-quality clinical guidelines and quality practices/processes in collaboration with physicians and various service lines that promote safe patient practices and enhance quality across Children's Physician Group.
  • Oversees monitoring and assists in analysis of performance improvement initiatives.
  • Analyzes data collection for outcomes to identify trends.
  • Participates in Epic documentation development, implementation, and utilization as related to outcome measurement through continuum.

Accreditation

  • Analyzes and communicates accreditation standards and regulatory rules to ensure optimal compliance with accreditation and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitors locations as indicated to assure continual readiness compliance.
  • Coordinates onsite surveys and responses from all regulatory agencies in collaboration with Manager, System Accreditation.
  • Identifies improvement opportunities to ensure continual compliance readiness.

Other Functions

  • Serves as a Children's Physician Group representative to system committees as requested.
  • Maintains and enhances knowledge of current trends and issues related to ambulatory staff development and integrates ideas into practice.
  • Demonstrates understanding of and supports family-centered care philosophy for ambulatory practices.
  • Responsible for all aspects of managing and leading a team including interviewing, hiring, training, developing, directing work and processes, managing performance, recognizing, and rewarding employees.
  • Mentor team members to encourage personal and professional growth.
  • Encourage ongoing skill development by providing opportunities for continued education.
