Summary:
Assists physicians in interventional procedures and provides diagnostic aid by performing high quality imaging involving patient treatment. Administers and records radiation dosage in accordance with established departmental protocol. Observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager.
Responsibilities:
Perform imaging procedures and produce high quality diagnostic imaging; demonstrate/maintain consistent knowledge of sterile technique maintenance of sterile environment. Provides on-call and callback coverage as required. Completes procedure/billing and coding documentation of all activities according to established criteria. Adhere to department/hospital policies, procedures and processes, quality improvement, safety, patient flow and other issues.
Communicate and collaborate with other Radiology staff and staff in other departments to facilitate optimum patient care. Maintains and requisitions medical and surgical supplies for patient care. Participate/cooperate with all other department/hospital processes/activities as appropriate.
Participate in training programs to develop additional skills and/or to enhance existing skills; obtain/maintain appropriate license and certification. Participate in patient/student education as appropriate. Lead and motivate staff in area assigned.
Demonstrates proper response and reliability for on call coverage.
WORK EXPERIENCE
At least 1 year job related experience Req
EDUCATION
Two-year Associate's degree or equivalent experience Radiology Req
Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Pref
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R) Upon Hire Req
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) Pref
Texas Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) license Upon Hire Req
