Summary:
The Director of Security is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of security operations across a designated Children's Health hospital market. This senior leadership role involves developing and executing strategic security initiatives that ensure the safety and protection of patients, visitors, staff, and organizational assets. The Director is accountable for establishing and maintaining comprehensive security policies and procedures, managing and mentoring security personnel, and fostering collaboration with other departments to integrate security into broader operational workflows. In addition, the Director conducts risk assessments at designated facilities, leads security emergency preparedness efforts, and oversees incident response and recovery processes. This role requires a deep understanding of healthcare security along with strong leadership and communication skills to promote a culture of security, compliance, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.  

This position is responsible for providing security and oversight for, but is not limited to, the following locations dependent on assigned division:

•Dallas Market: 15+ locations in Dallas and surrounding suburban throughout the state of Texas (includes Houston, East Texas and DFW) 

•Northern Market: 5+ locations in Plano and surrounding suburban area

•  Community Care Sites: 30+ locations throughout Dallas, Northern Market, and throughout the state of Texas (including Dallas Fort Worth, East Texas, and Houston).

Responsibilities:

  • Administers and directs all departmental activities in collaboration with senior leadership, including daily operations, team structure, engagement, priorities, and performance management.
  • Leads financial stewardship for the security department, including budget planning, cost control, and resource allocation to support operational efficiency and strategic growth.
  • Provides people leadership to security staff and manages contractor/vendor relationships, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and service expectations.
  • Collaborates with market leaders to support and execute strategic goals, integrating security initiatives into broader organizational objectives.
  • Develops, tracks, and maintains key operational performance metrics to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality security services across the assigned area.
  • Communicates and partners with peer leaders to establish and maintain consistent policies and practices across the healthcare system.
  • Plans and implements professional development and growth opportunities for team members to enhance capabilities, engagement, and retention.
  • Conducts security risk assessments throughout the facility to proactively identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Maintains professional expertise through active participation in industry seminars, workshops, and affiliations to stay current with emerging security technologies and best practices.

Work Experience

  • At least 7 years manager level or higher experience in security, law enforcement, military or related protective services, required
  • At least 5 years Healthcare experience, demonstrated ability to effectively work with law enforcement preferred
Education
  • Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
Licenses and Certifications
  • Texas Department of Public Safety – Texas Private Security Bureau Registration – Non Commissioned Security Officer training and certification 180 Days, required
  • Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA), preferred
