Summary:
The Anesthesia Technician coordinates the equipment and supplies for the department. This position also assists in integrating surgical and anesthesia equipment to ensure effective and efficient operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify equipment is functioning properly; ensure efficient arrangement of equipment and disposable products to enhance work efficiency of licensed personnel.
  • Coordinate the needs of anesthesia; assist with technical aspects of getting patients ready for general or regional anesthesia; assist with intravenous, intra-arterial and other monitoring catheters. May occasionally assist licensed personnel with non-invasive patient care as directed.
  • Utilizing established safety protocols, transports and delivers approved medications from the pharmacy or Omnicell to the operating room as directed by the anesthesia provider.
  • Participate in rotation of coordinating personnel, i.e. during Team Leader's absence and/or when a call is received via pager, relays incoming assignment (e.g. room to be prepped) to the available Anesthesia Tech.
  • Participate in new product evaluation at the direction of a team leader/manager.
  • Assist with orienting new anesthesia technicians.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • At least 1 year job related experience Required
EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or equivalent Required
  • One year vocational or technical school or equivalent education/experience relating to anesthesia Preferred

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements Required
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) 180 Days Preferred
