Title:  Program and Event Assistant (S)

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS:  Under supervision of program leads, supports the execution of cultural events in the parks. Performs administrative and/or physical tasks as they relate to event production.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
▪ Assist program leads with event production, presentation and logistics, including pre-event scheduling and administration, load-in, audio/visual setup, crowd control and documentation, on-site, and load-out and follow up, post-event.
▪ Collaborate with park staff, patrons, and partners at cultural events to successfully execute event logistics, document, and promote park events such as concerts, festivals, theater performances, dance performances, and movies, in parks citywide.
▪ Serve as a primary point of contact for audiences or park staff requiring additional event support while on site. Work independently, when required, to produce and staff park-based cultural events without direct supervision or direction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience: High School graduation or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required. One year of event experience is preferred.
Must have valid Illinois Driver’s License
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
▪ Ability to communicate effectively with park employees, partners and the public. 
▪ Effective oral and written communication skills: phone, text and email, Microsoft Teams, Zoom. 
▪ Ability to travel and navigate throughout the city. 
▪ Skill in the operation of office machines, including personal computers, cell phones and tablets. 
▪ Knowledge of rules of grammar, punctuation and spelling. 
▪ Familiarity with Chicago’s diverse community areas and passion for public service required. 
▪ Must be available to work weeknights and weekends.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Performs tasks that involve use of hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching, walking, bending, stooping, standing, kneeling, climbing, reaching and sitting. May perform lifting tasks up to 25 pounds.
