1Chevron Shale & Tight Business Unit is accepting online applications for the position of Regulatory Inspector at our Tioga, ND, facility through February 3rd, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. MST.
The Regulatory Inspector provides oversight and program management for the execution of Chevron’s Cathodic Protection (CP) and Internal Corrosion (IC) programs across field pipelines and facilities. Ensures compliance with 49 CFR 192/195, maintains the integrity of steel assets, and drives safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible operations. Supports all pipeline and facility corrosion-control activities, including CP performance, corrosion monitoring, chemical treatment programs, compliance documentation, and contractor oversight.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Cathodic Protection (CP) – Execution & Compliance
- Execute Chevron’s Cathodic Protection and Corrosion Control Program.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with PHMSA 49 CFR 192 & 195.
- Oversee the execution of CIS, ACVG, DCVG, atmospheric corrosion, and soil resistivity surveys.
- Ensure quality execution of troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair activities on CP equipment (rectifiers, anodes, test stations, coupons, bonds).
- Review corrosion/CP data and work with Engineering on recommended corrective actions.
- Generate regulatory-compliant reports and maintain integrity documentation.
- Lead and oversee corrosion contractors and ensure regulatory compliance.
Internal Corrosion (IC) – Monitoring & Mitigation
- Ensure IC program elements meet PHMSA 49 CFR 192 & 195 requirements.
- Manage internal corrosion monitoring programs and contractors (UT sensors, probes, coupons, liquid sampling).
- Work with Engineering to develop mitigation actions such as inhibitor treatments and pigging operations.
- Interpret corrosion trends and escalate anomalies.
- Maintain IC program documentation and records.
Contractor, Stakeholder & Field Support
- Provide technical guidance to Operations, Maintenance, and Integrity teams.
- Direct and audit contractors performing CP, IC, and chemical-treatment activities.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain on scopes and materials.
- Communicate program findings, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
3.4 Data, Analytics & Reporting
- Maintain CP and IC KPIs and dashboards.
- Track system health, compliance status, and mitigation effectiveness.
- Maintain regulatory-ready documentation.
Required qualifications:
- High School Diploma.
- 5+ years in program or contractor management.
- Knowledge of CP fundamentals, corrosion monitoring, pigging, and PHMSA regulations.
- Ability to interpret survey data and lead
- Demonstrates ownership of safety, integrity, and compliance.
- Direct, decisive, accountable, and results-driven.
- Collaborates effectively across teams and contractors.
- Uses data for decisions and continuous improvement.
Preferred qualifications:
- NACE/AMPP CP1–CP4, Internal Corrosion Technologist, or related certifications.
- Experience with pipeline integrity management systems and drawings.
- Familiarity with SAP PM and PCMS or equivalent CMMS.
- Strong technical writing skills.
