1Chevron’s Global Business Services (GBS), located in Buenos Aires, is accepting applications for the position of Data Analyst, Data & Insights - Data Governance Successful candidates will join the IT Organization, which is part of a multifunction service center with a workforce of more than 1800 employees that deliver business services and solutions to the corporation across the globe.
The Data Analyst, Data & Insights - Data Governance serves as a bridge between the technical and business sides, translating complex data requirements into actionable policies and frameworks. Their primary purpose is to ensure that data is managed in accordance with strategic goals, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. Working closely with stakeholders, this role is responsible for implementing and maintaining data governance processes that optimize the value, reliability, and security of data.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
On top of the standard data analyst skill set, such as data collection, analysis and business communication, this role requires expertise in data governance.
Data Governance Implementation: Develop, implement, and maintain data governance frameworks, standards, and policies to ensure effective management of data assets. Coordinate data stewardship activities, facilitate collaboration with data owners and users across departments. Monitor adherence to data governance protocols and recommend improvements for process optimization.
Data Quality Management: Design and execute data quality assessments, profiling, and cleansing initiatives to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Establish data quality metrics and reporting mechanisms to track progress and identify areas for improvement. Work with business side to resolve data quality issues and ensure data meets business and regulatory requirements.
Metadata Management: Oversee metadata collection, organization, and maintenance, ensuring detailed documentation of data sources, definitions, lineage, and ownership. Support the implementation of metadata repositories and data catalogs for improved data discoverability and transparency.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure organizational data practices comply with relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies. Monitor and report on data-related risks, proposing mitigation strategies and escalation procedures as needed. Support audits and assessments by providing documentation, data lineage, and access controls information.
Data Architecture Support: Collaborate with data architects, engineers, and IT teams to ensure data structures and systems align with governance requirements. Participate in data modeling, mapping, and integration activities to support business intelligence and analytics initiatives.
Reporting & Analytics: Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations that provide insights into data governance, data quality, and compliance status. Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies relevant to governance objectives.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Act as a data governance subject matter expert, providing training, guidance, and support to data stewards and business users. Communicate data governance policies, standards, and metrics to diverse audiences, fostering a culture of data responsibility. Lead workshops, meetings, and working groups focused on data governance initiatives.
Continuous Improvement: Track industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to update data governance practices. Drive innovation in data management and governance through pilot projects, proof-of-concept initiatives, and tool evaluations.
Required Qualifications:
Proven track record in data analysis, data management, and data governance roles within medium to large organizations.
Experience with data governance frameworks, data quality tools, metadata management platforms, and master data management.
Develop advanced visualization dashboards and reports that communicate governance insights clearly and persuasively.
Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g. SQL, Python) and reporting/BI platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
Familiarity with data governance tools, data catalogs, and metadata repositories (e.g., Collibra).
Excellent understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data architecture concepts.
Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and privacy laws.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Strong attention to detail, organizational, and documentation abilities.
Excellent communication, writing, presentation, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work independently and drive initiatives in a cross-functional setting.
Work independently and collaboratively to deliver results quickly while maintaining quality standards.
Result driven: able to prioritize effectively and deliver high quality outputs quickly.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Education: B.S. or M.S. in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Mathematics or Engineering
Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP)
Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
Relevant vendor certifications (e.g., Collibra Ranger)
Experience of development of AI data governance framework, master data management and cyber security practices.
Familiarity with Oil and Gas industry data.
Ability to transform complex data into compelling visual stories.
