The first AI mortgage lender

San Francisco, CA Full-time US citizen/visa only 3+ years

About Chestnut

Chestnut is the first AI mortgage lender. Our AI agents automate the mortgage process and save consumers 0.5%+ in interest. Founder Spencer Brown’s last startup built software used by a top-10 mortgage lender to power $85B+ of loan volume and all aspects of loan processing. During that time he learned how AI could be used to automate the mortgage process and save consumers billions of dollars per year. Realizing that traditional lenders weren’t poised to adapt to AI, he founded Chestnut to challenge the $128B mortgage market head-on. So far, Chestnut is licensed in Texas and Colorado where we offer several different types of home loans. We’re backed by Y Combinator, Olive Tree Capital (Uber, Postmates, Ramp), and other world-class investors, angels, and founders. The company was founded in January 2025 and recently completed YC X25.

About Chestnut

FoundersSpencer Brown Repeat founder building the first AI mortgage lender. My last startup built a system of record for mortgage lending that powered 2% of US mortgages annually. During that time, I saw firsthand how inefficient traditional lenders are – and realized I should compete with them directly. I started coding at age 12, founded my first company at 16, and was an early engineer at six other seed- and A-stage startups.About ChestnutChestnut is the first AI mortgage lender.
