The Boat Sales & Boat Donation Program Manager leads CBMM’s Boat Donation Program (BDP) team and drives revenue by sourcing boat donations through partners and individual donors, assessing incoming vessels, and overseeing the successful marketing and sale of donated boats and boating equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

Sales, Outreach & Revenue Generation

Drive used / donated boat sales by responding promptly and professionally to inquiries from prospective buyers and donors, both by phone and email.
Create and execute sales plans to meet annual revenue goals, including pricing, inventory management, and boat donation pipeline development.
Maintain and actively use a CRM system to track all leads, donors, and buyers; conduct regular outreach to keep the sales pipeline full.
Expand visibility and reach by creating and managing online listings on platforms such as SailboatListings.com, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and other relevant sites.
Plan and organize sales events in coordination with the Events Team to increase exposure and move inventory.
Coordinate sales efforts with third‑party boat brokers when appropriate.
Assist with vessel acquisition, evaluation, pricing, and preparation for sale.

 

Digital, Administrative & Communication Responsibilities

Promote the Boat Donation Program through effective use of social media, online platforms, and digital tools.
Work closely with the BDP Administrative Assistant to ensure all listing content, donation paperwork, and sales documentation is accurate, complete, and well‑organized.
Maintain strong internal communication, ensuring timely responses, accurate scheduling, and consistent use of Outlook calendars and shared systems.
Prepare and review required reporting, including the Maryland DNR monthly sales report and internal weekly inventory and sales updates.

 

Program Operations & Team Leadership

Lead and support the BDP team through daily direction, coordination, and performance management.
Assess the quality and marketability of incoming vessels to determine alignment with BDP acceptance criteria.
Arrange transportation and logistics for accepted vessels.
Oversee proper storage and presentation of inventory to ensure safety, minimize costs, and display vessels effectively.
Share responsibility with shipyard staff for managing offsite storage facilities housing BDP vessels and equipment.
Become familiar with all processes related to receiving donated boats and equipment, including Maryland DNR title transfers and internal recordkeeping.
Oversee maintenance of BDP vehicles and equipment.
Develop, evaluate, and manage the departmental budget.
Contribute to the advancement of BDP’s goals and support broader CBMM initiatives as needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer or President/CEO.

This is a full-time, exempt position with an expected minimum work schedule of 40 hours per week. All staff are expected to be available to work on a flexible schedule that will at times include evenings and weekends.

The Boat Sales & Boat Donation Program Manager is expected to be present for all special events / advancement functions unless otherwise arranged with the COO or President and may be assigned to work in a capacity alternate to that defined.
QualificationsBasic Skills:

Three to five years of sales and / or marine industry experience; vessel evaluation is a plus.
Strong computer and online listing skills, with experience listing and promoting boats across various websites and platforms.
Strong people management skills, with experience directing a small team, ensuring accountability, and keeping work flowing efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
MD state Boaters License and valid Driver’s License; Captain’s license preferred
Knowledge of Maryland state vessel registration requirements and tax implications a plus.
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong general computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to work in database systems and online listing platforms.
Ability to interact with the public positively and professionally, both in person and through email.
Strong internal communication skills, including maintaining an accurate Outlook calendar, responding promptly to meeting requests, and ensuring all meetings and commitments are consistently scheduled in Outlook.
