Summary:

The Senior Credit Analyst is responsible for performing advanced credit analysis on complex commercial credit requests, ensuring sound underwriting decisions aligned with the organization’s credit policy and risk appetite. This role provides analytical leadership, mentors junior analysts, and collaborates closely with commercial loan administrators, loan officers, commercial loan coordinators and commercial portfolio coordinators to support high‑quality loan portfolio growth.

Responsibilities

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the credit analyst team providing guidance, training, and mentoring to help team members to perform their duties effectively and efficiently.
  • Review the analysis and work product of other analysts for accuracy, completeness and policy adherence.
  • Support department process improvements and contribute to updated credit analysis standards
  • Conduct regular team meetings with a goal of information sharing and team building.
  • Obtains loan request information from the commercial loan officer to analyze credit information, financial statements and other related information pertaining to the loan.
  • Research background documentation and reviews personal and business financial statements and tax returns.
  • Analyzes financial information and prepares the preliminary analysis for the loan officer.
  • Requests financial statements on existing borrowers from account officers if they have not been obtained.
  • Reviews and prepares written analysis, spreadsheets, reports, summaries and opinions.
  • Prepare clear, thorough credit approval memorandums for presentation to the loan officers and/or loan committees summarizing financial conditions, risks mitigants, collateral and repayment capacity.
  • Review and validate complex credit relationships, including multi‑entity structures, real estate projects, and specialized lending requests.
  • Review and approve credit approval memorandums within the appropriate software.
  • Assist with periodic internal and external audits
  • Follows all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in processing customers' records and files.

 

 

OTHER:

  • Occasional travel to company office locations is required.
  • Willingly performs other duties and projects as assigned.

 

BACKUP RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand your role as defined by the three lines of defense to maintain a compliance culture that includes risk management processes

Requirements

  • Bank Credit experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Accounting/Finance is preferred.
  • Ethics/Integrity: Knowledge of practices, behaviors, applicable laws, rules and regulations governing proper business conduct.
  • Adaptability: Knowledge of successful approaches, tools and techniques for dealing with changes and adapting to a changing environment. Must be organized, efficient, and able to work independently and be detail oriented in order to generate accurate reports.
  • Customer Service: Works well with customers, promotes a positive image of the company, strives to solve issues raised by customers.
  • Productivity: Manages workload, works efficiently, meets goals and objectives. Able to manage multiple tasks, projects & deadlines.

  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office applications
