Mission Support Specialist – Travel Coordinator

This position requires an active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph clearance.

Cherokee Preting is seeking a Mission Support Specialist – Travel Coordinator to serve on a unique and specialized team.  This person would support critical national security objectives for our client and ensuring travel, logistical and special documentation is in order to meet time sensitive requirements, sometimes under pressure. This will require attention to detail, cohesion with a highly specialized team, and previous experience handling extensive overseas travel requirements and processes.  Our team also requires experience someone with experience as a document custodian and regulatory practices that ensure both accountability and security.

Mission Support Specialist – Travel Coordinator Responsibilities Include: 

  • Must be highly proficient using Federal Agency travel systems

  • Preparing travel arrangements by producing travel documentation, coordinating with US Embassies, installations and overseas partners, and ensuring proper visas and clearances are completed in a timely manner. The Mission Support Specialist will attempt to procure the most economical travel for the team that meets mission requirements. 

  • Coordinating Team visits with each installation’s primary point of contact for the visit and other identified personnel depending upon the scope of the assessment.

  • Coordinating trip preparation with the designated team point of contact based on established milestones and Standard Operating Procedures and notifying the client’s leadership of preparations, travel considerations, approvals and other issues in a timely manner.   

  • Function as the single point of contact for all travel and, at times, be prepared to present updates to senior leaders.

  • Transmit security and country clearances for each government and contractor employee for assigned missions.

  • Assist in preparing routine administrative documents and serve as a custodian of other documentation, that requires inventorying, managing, and record keeping.

  • Provide the client’s resource management team with a Travel Spend Plan and facilitate projections.

  • Provide travel cost estimates when requested.

Mission Support Specialist – Travel Coordinator Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: 

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • At least five (5) years of experience in Support or travel-related field
  • Required to have five (5) years of experience with the client is required 
  • Previous field experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of the client’s systems and administrative requirements, especially regarding rules for TDY travel.
  • Knowledge and experience in coordinating logistical requirements for teams or groups of personnel.
  • Experience with country clearances, sensitive document custodian, and travel accounting
  • Ability to effectively communicate via written and oral means.
  • Knowledge of the federal travel requirements.
  • Experience working with client systems and accounting practices
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with little to no supervision.
  • Understanding of how to use the Foreign Clearance Guide
  • Ability to provide a high-level customer service for the mission teams.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
