CEMB is a large laboratory branch which is home to The National Reference Lab, comprised of several teams (the Antimicrobial Resistance and Characterization Laboratory (ARCL), the Antimicrobial Resistance (AR) Bank, the Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance team, and part of our Office of Laboratory Strategies and Analytics) and several Applied Environmental Labs (the Healthcare Environment Applied Research Team, Biofilm and Microbial Control team, and our Outbreak Response Lab.

Responsibilities- Serve as the laboratory's primary liaison for audits, review committees, or third-party inquiries, such as assisting to conduct external quality assessments of laboratories to review laboratory data, document regulatory compliance and identify deficiencies.
- Conduct quality reviews and assist in the development of goals and implement objectives, policies, and priorities for the quality management system to ensure compliance with current emerging regulatory requirements, quality standards and accreditation requirements such as Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and other national and international standards.
- Review quality policies, processes, and procedures with branch staff via Quality team trainings and presentation, provide guidance on how to implement via trainings and updated procedures, and maintain compliance via review of Quality documents, competency assessments, and other methods as determined by CDC Quality Management Policy.
- Continually assess and evaluate the quality management program and laboratory quality management systems to meet CDC QMS requirements. This includes internal audit program, corrective and preventive actions, quality planning, document control, record management, support equipment calibration and inventories of equipment, supplies and reagents, staff training and data management functions.
- Coordinate and communicate laboratory monitoring program and laboratory quality systems/controls with branch/division managers.
- Provide guidance on the establishment and maintenance of automated and manual data systems for quality data and records management. This may include review of potential electronic systems, testing of systems, and entry of data into new or estsblished systems such as Qualtrax, FreezerWorks, or eQMS.
- Evaluate laboratory testing methodology and techniques documentation for CLIA and QMML standards.
- Confirm competency assessment and trainings are in conformance with CLIA and/or QMML
- policies, rules, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop, coordinate, or execute quality assurance, quality control, and related operational trainings. Trainings can be held monthly during QMS Meetings, Branch Meetings, Team Meetings, or at additional times as required by the circumstance.
- Provide guidance to management and employees to correct identified quality mangement deficiencies. Deficiences would be identified via non-conforming events, CAP testing, internal or external audits.
- The contractor is responsible to provide the necessary skills and resources to meet the requirements in this contract. It is expected that the contractor will not only provide expertise to meet this requirement on day one but also keep up with new trends and innovations in the fields of research laboratory monitoring and analytical quality assurance through the life of this contract.
Coordinate with the CDC Office of Health and Safety, for regular and routine inspections/reviews of assigned workspace to identify and correct unsafe conditions
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- 4+ years of experience
