About this role

Summary

The Emergency Management Specialist under general supervision is primarily responsible to support emergency response elements and NASA during emergencies, and natural disasters. Must also assist with the development of emergency plans, checklists, and procedures. 


Responsibilities

  • Emergency Management Operations: Activates and operates the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and Alternate EOC during large-scale disasters and emergencies; operates the Mobile Command Vehicle and maintains assigned equipment.
  • Training & Instruction: Completes and instructs National Incident Management System (NIMS) training courses; provides emergency management training as required.
  • Coordination & Compliance: Coordinates emergency management policies with local and state officials; ensures compliance with NASA, federal, state, and local regulations, including energy conservation and safety programs.
  • Public Outreach & Communication: Conducts educational activities for the public, including publishing bulletins and giving briefings; participates in meetings and task forces to communicate issues and resolve problems.
  • Documentation & Evaluation: Supports the Exercise Evaluation System; develops metrics, reports, flowcharts, and other documentation to support organizational needs.
  • Other Duties as Assigned: Performs additional responsibilities as required, including participation in special projects and certification training.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a Bachelors’ Degree in Emergency Management or related discipline and possess four (4) years related experienceEquivalent education/experience is applicable.   
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.   
  • Must meet all standards as required by Statement of Work. 
  • Must be certified as an Emergency Response Official   
  • Honorably discharged from the Armed Services (If Applicable).
