Position: Tax Analyst - Contract Opportunity

Primary Location: Preference is to be located in Toronto (Hybrid with 1 day per week in the office). The position is also open to be home based within Canada.

Reports to: Sr.Tax Manager

Compensation Range:  $34.00/hr

The range shown reflects the targeted pay scale. Actual pay within the range depends on work location and factors such as skills, experience, and education. Specific salary details can be discussed during the hiring process. Posted compensation reflects base salary only and excludes bonuses, benefits, pension contributions, and other incentives

 

About The Position And You

The Tax Analyst will report to the Senior Manager, Tax and will support the Tax, Treasury and Finance teams. The Tax Analyst will assist with sales, property, income tax compliance activities and analytical support for the Tax Team. The Tax Analyst will also record certain tax related monthly cash entries, as well as periodically assisting in the audit process with the CRA and provincial tax authorities

 

Qualification Required

  • University Degree in economics, commerce, business, or accounting.
  • 1+ years’ tax or finance experience desirable.
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office Suite knowledge.
  • Experience with SAP an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills, initiative and attention to detail.

 

Responsibilities

  • 70% Tax Compliance:
    • Be responsible for sales, use, and property tax analysis, filings and reconciliations;
    • Assist with maintenance of the certain tax models, including preparing tax related journal entries;
    • Maintain accurate records of intercompany transactions and balances and provide necessary analysis and reconciliation;
  • 20% Tax Team Support:
    • Provide sales tax exemption certificate as requested;
    • Update tax jurisdiction codes in SAP once requested;
    • Prepare payment requests for tax instalments, property tax, and sales tax filings. 
  • 10% Special Projects/Adhoc Reporting:
    • Assist in audit processes with the CRA and provincial authorities.
